Obituary of Ronald W Fons

Ronald W. Fons passed away peacefully at the age of 86, surrounded by family in Charleston, SC on June 13, 2021. His parents Lawrence and Alice Fons (Olson) preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Doris Fons (Connolly). He was the proud dad to Wendy, Lisa & Roger (spouse) and Craig & Diana (spouse). Loving Grandfather to Heather & Josh (Spouse) Lacy and Ally & Great-Grandfather to Henry and Grace.

He grew up in Chicago, IL. He attended Lindblom High school, after high school he spent 2 years in the Army, during Korean War. Then he found his dream job with the Grand Trunk Railroad. Forty-two years were spent as a fireman and the youngest engineer on the railroad, based in Battle Creek, MI. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and University of Michigan. (Go Blue)

Retirement years were spent in Naples, FL telling jokes, golfing, boating and fishing. Ron & Doris recently moved to Charleston, SC. to be closer to family. A private memorial will be held at a future date.
