ROBERT BRUCE MOORE August 6, 1946 – April 21, 2016 Robert Bruce Moore, 69, of James Island, South Carolina, ended his battle with cancer as he passed on to Heaven at Beaufort Memorial Hospital on April 21, 2016. A service celebrating his life will be held at James Island Christian Church on Saturday, April 23 at 1 PM. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island. Bruce was born in Columbia, South Carolina, on August 6, 1946, a son of H. D. “Jack” and Lucile B. Moore. Bruce served his country as a medic in the Air Force. He then married and worked as a criminal tax investigator with the S.C. Department of Revenue for 30 years. He last served as the business administrator for James Island Christian Church until retirement. He was a devoted husband and caretaker of his son with special needs. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and he volunteered at the golf course at Stono Ferry. However, Bruce was a true cowboy at heart. He took great joy in annual trips out West to herd cattle and work on the ranch with a wonderful group of friends. He attended church with his family his whole life and lived out Christ’s example of what it meant to be a loving husband, father, grandfather, and caregiver. Bruce is survived by his mother, Lucile B. Moore, his daughter, Dr. Kimberly M. Martin, and son-in-law, Dr. William D. Martin, III, and four grandchildren, Kidron Grace, Kendall Faith, William “Liam” D., IV, and Joshua Brooks Martin. He is also survived by his brother, Jack D. Moore (Barbara) and sister, Susan M. Gunter (Tim) and many nieces and nephews. Bruce is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Linda Denny Moore, his son, Joshua Bruce Moore, and his father, H. D. “Jack” Moore.
