Obituary of Margaret Littleton

Margaret Littleton, 81, North Charleston, SC

Margaret Anne Sell Littleton died February 10th, 2022.  She was born July 26, 1940, in Leadmine, WV and lived there until her family moved to Trotwood, OH while she was in high school.  Margaret later graduated from Trotwood-Madison High School.

She met the love of her life, Thomas “Bill” Littleton on a blind date.  Margaret and Bill were married and had two daughters, Chris and Cathy. The family relocated to Weirton, WV, and Margaret made a wonderful, loving home for her family.  She was a devoted wife and an attentive mom.  She was a talented seamstress and often made dresses and gowns for her girls.  Margaret was also a terrific cook and always made room at the table for any friends her daughters brought home for dinner. She was an active member of the Weirton Heights Free Methodist Church for many years. After Chris and Cathy were grown, Margaret went back to school and got her degree in cosmetology.  She enjoyed giving perms and haircuts to many friends and family members.

In 1993 after her daughters had moved to South Carolina, Margaret and Bill relocated to South Carolina also. When Margaret’s grand-daughters Ashley and Emily were born, Margaret found her greatest joy in being a Gram.  She also started working at Wal-Mart as a cashier and made several new friends during her 25-year career there. In fact, she continued to work full-time there until she was 81-years-old!  She did this by choice.  She loved the routine and getting out to meet and serve her regular customers who would line up patiently, just so they could see “Miss Margaret,” and get to talk to her.

Margaret was a voracious reader and a Scrabble genius.  She did crossword puzzles in ink, solved Wheel of Fortune puzzles without ever needing to buy a vowel, and nearly always knew the Final Jeopardy question.  She was humble, kind, loving, nurturing, and loyal. She was generous, patient, and fiercely protective of her loved ones.  Margaret never took herself too seriously and could always find the bright side in every situation.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Lona Sell, husband, Thomas “Bill” Littleton, daughter Chris Littleton, and Grandson-in-law Paul Kimp, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Cathy (John) Chihocky, Grand-daughters Ashley Littleton-Kimp and Emily Chihocky, her great-grandsons Logan Kimp, Levi Kimp, Finn Kimp, and Remi Kimp, her sisters Mary (Woody) Pumphrey, Carolyn (Gene) Braden, and Marie (Jim) Sawyers, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In keeping with Margaret’s wishes there will be no funeral.  Those who wish to honor Margaret’s memory are encouraged to say their prayers, get a good night’s sleep, and do something nice for someone else.
