Obituary of Alvin Dewayne Daniels

Alvin “Popeye” Daniels, 86, husband of Veronica “Ronnie” Bolchoz Daniels, passed away Wednesday, March 09, 2022, at his home.

Born on July 27, 1935, in Pamplico, SC, he was a son of the late William Daniels and the late Dorothy Dewitt Daniels. Mr. Daniels was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. He retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard / Supply Center after more than 35 years of Service.

Survivors include Ronnie, his wife of 62 years; son Mark Daniels and wife Debbie, daughter Bridget Williams, all of Charleston; grandchildren Matthew Daniels (Nora) of Silver Spring, MD, Kelly Daniels of Chattanooga, TN, and Joshua Williams of Summerville, SC, and his buddy “Eddie” the dog. He is survived by his sister Yvonne Buzzelli of Kiawah, SC and was preceded in death by his sister Zelma Kearse.

A friend to all he met, “Popeye” graduated from Chicora HS, was an avid golfer and loved camping and spending time in the outdoors. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 463 and a lifetime member of the Charleston Elks lodge. He loved recalling memories of dancing on the Folly Beach pier with Ronnie, his wife of 62 years, his adventures while stationed in France in Germany, and a lifetime of socializing with friends and family.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 19th, 11:00 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 6650 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, SC 29418.
