Obituary of James Robert Thompson

James (Jimbo) Robert Thompson, 77, of Ridgeville, SC, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022 at Hospice House due to many extended illnesses which he fought like a true hero. Plans for a Celebration of Life have not yet been scheduled. Please do not send flowers but in lieu of, you can make Donations to SPCA, The Alzheimer’s Project or The Cancer Society. Jimbo was a Christian.

Jimbo was born in Geneva, Alabama, on March 9, 1945 and has lived in many towns as his father was military later serving his country in the U.S. Navy. He was the son of the late Mr. William Jaye Halley and Mary Ellen Halley.

Jimbo worked with Charleston Navy Shipyard and retired from Shop #26 in 1993. After retiring from CNSY, he went to work for Trident Hospital in Summerville, SC., as a maintenance technician and retired from Trident. He was a Mason (AFM) and had not been active for some years due to his ill health. He was an avid golfer.

Jimbo is survived by his wife of 24 years, Donna L. Thompson, his daughter, Kelli Claypool, Breeding, KY; grandchildren, Spencer Claypool, Brandi Dagit and Brittini (Ryan) Moore and Great Grandchildren River & Raine; son, James Ryan (Tina) Thompson, Moncks Corner, SC, and his daughter, Kimberly Richardson, Goose Creek, SC; grandsons, Ricky, Lawson and Grayson, granddaughter, Maryssa Thompson; brothers, Mark Samuel (Kim) Halley, Greenbrier, TN; Daniel Jaye Halley, N. Hampton, MA.; sisters, Shawn Ellen Doolittle Havana, FL and Michelle Annette Olsin, Louisville, TN, including many nieces and nephews.

 

 The Celebration of Life is being held on June 18, 2022, at 1603 Pimlico Boulevard, Moncks Corner, SC 29461, from 2 to 4 o’clock .
