Jack Williams

Obituary of Jack Duane Williams

Jack Duane Williams went home to the Lord on July 15th, 2022 at the age of 76. He was born December 27, 1946 in Richwood, West Virginia to Jack and Billy Faye Williams. He enjoyed a small-town childhood in West Virginia and attended Rainelle High School, where he played football. After graduating in 1964, he joined the United States Navy and served our country for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Master Chief. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. During his Navy career, Jack married Vicky Carter (Williams) on March 1, 1976 and the two had twin boys, Joshua and Jeremiah, on April 18, 1983. After leaving the Navy in December of 1988, Jack began his much-loved role as a Rural Carrier Associate with the United States Postal Service. He truly enjoyed his work and the people it allowed him to meet and engage with every day. Many of the folks that lived on his mail route became friends that kept in touch with him even after he retired. This illustrates the main thing anyone who knew Jack will remember…he cared about people. He REALLY cared about people. Helping others was his main passion in life, which is why he enjoyed his work so much. He loved serving his customers, to the point of leaving home on Christmas Day several years to deliver packages that hadn’t quite made it in time. He needed to bring a smile to someone’s face knowing they’d gotten to open a present on Christmas Day instead of after. Jack had the heart of a servant that wasn’t limited to work. In his free time he looked for opportunities to bless people in need, often sacrificing his wants to help meet others’ needs. Nobody would miss a meal or a rent payment if Jack new about it. He also loved his church, where he perpetually served as a deacon and assisted with managing his church’s finances. His passion for serving wasn’t just limited to people…he also cared deeply about animals. Any stray dog or cat that crossed his path could expect at the least a snack, but they often ended up with a home as well. Jack may have been a humble man often short on words, but there was nothing short about the impact he made on everyone in his life. Jack is survived by his wife Vicky Denise Williams; his sons Joshua Duane Williams and Jeremiah David Williams; and many, many extended family and found family members.
