Obituary of Florence Belden

Florence Jennette Belden, age 94, died on Tuesday February 6, 2018 in Hollywood, SC. She was born on November 29, 1923 in Painesville, Ohio to Clayton E. Johnson and Anna C. (Barish) Johnson and was one of five children. In her 94 years of life, she accomplished many things. She would always find new things to do even well into retirement. She was a successful business woman, master gardener, brilliant award winning artist, active advocate for special needs children, she served on various boards and contributed countless hours to charity work, she was on the board of directors of the Niagara Falls Mall where she co-founded and operated Wally’s Creative Designs, in 1983 she was named business person of the year in the Ninety Store Summit Park Mall of Niagara Falls, she served as vice president for the American Business Woman’s Association in 1984, she also won Woman of the Year through the ABWA and was honored at a banquet at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California. Left to honor Florence are two daughters, London “Carol” Caine and Janet Claire Suveges; 11 grandchildren; Todd Giffin, Anna (Tim) Firth, John (Gail) Wainio, Renee Legare, Shane (Margaret) Legare, Jodi (Charlie) Crosby, Raeann Hunt, Audra (Craig) Fletcher, Mark Lister, Linda Brettrager, and Cathy Hardesty; 19 great grandchildren; Kendle, Austin, Brandy, Rebecca, Jarred, Jordan, Lexi, Ethan, Matthew, Mark, Luke, Eric, Warren, Logan, Nicole, Melissa, Rose, Heather, and Eleni; 8 great great grandchildren with one more on the way. The family is holding a memorial service for Florence at The SCPA Building next to Meggett Town Hall located at 4770 Highway 165 in Meggett on Saturday February 10th at 3:00 pm.
