Obituary of Sallie Ann Laidlaw

Sallie Ann “Miney” Laidlaw of Hanahan passed away peacefully at Hospice of Charleston Center on January 12, 2016 in Mount Pleasant. She was 80 years old. Sallie Ann is survived by son Edwin Laidlaw of Hanahan; Ruth Singletary and her husband, Ted, of Goose Creek grandsons Will and Parker of Goose Creek. Sallie Ann was born on December 27, 1935 in Kingstree, S.C. She graduated valedictorian of her class at North Charleston High School in 1954. She taught piano lessons 57 years. In addition, “Miss Sallie” worked at Happy Feet Dance Studio for 27 years where she designed costumes, headpieces, worked in the front office and was manager of the Dancewear Closet. She was an active member of the Business and Professional Women’s club where she served as President of her chapter. Also, she was an active member of the United Methodist Church. Sallie Ann loved cooking delicious food for her family. She was especially close to her grandsons Will and Parker. She enjoyed line dancing, sewing, and gardening. She loved traveling to New York City, Cape Cod and going on cruises. She also loved traveling to the mountains of Western North Carolina to Lake Junaluska and Chimney Rock. The family would like to thank the staff at Pinewood Place of Goose Creek and Hospice of Charleston for their kindness, compassion and love while caring for “Miss Sallie”. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Children’s Education Ministry Fund at North Charleston United Methodist Church or your favorite charity in her name. A visitation will be held for Sallie Ann on Sunday January 17th, 2016 from 3-6 PM at Simplicity Lowcountry (7475 Peppermill Parkway North Charleston, SC) with a service held on Tuesday January 19th, 2015 at 11AM at North Charleston UMC (1125 E Montague Ave, North Charleston, SC). Burial to follow.
