Obituary of Nettie Lee Sleeman

Nettie Lee Sleeman (Dean/Lusby) passed away at 57 years of age on the 25th of May 2023 after a heroic fight with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Despite her tenacity for life and the extraordinary dedication of her doctors, her treatment became unsuccessful, and her final moments were spent surrounded by her family and friends in Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Known for her devotion to her family and friends, she will be remembered for her desire to comfort anyone in need. Nettie’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life. Before passing, Nettie asked that people are not saddened at the news of her passing but celebrate her life.

She is survived by her husband, Joel Sleeman, Children, Alisha (Michael), Ashley, Kyle, and Megan. Her grandchildren, Paul, Aaralyn, Bryan, David, and Zayden. Her sisters, Sharon and Trudy. As well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many others she touched during her life.

She is reunited in death with her parents, her brother Joey, sister Vicky, and her dear friend Brenda.

As Nettie requested prior to passing, a celebration of life will be held in July, in lieu of a memorial and viewing. More details will be provided later by her family. The family asks that in lieu of flowers and gifts, donations are sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital as Nettie requested.
