Obituary of Jim Henry Fields, Jr

Jim Henry Fields, Jr., age 61, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on July 28, 2023 in Summerville, SC. Jim was born on April 16, 1962 in New Carrollton, MD. He was a beloved husband to his wife and an extremely proud and devoted father to his two children. His humor and friendliness made him a cherished and loyal friend to many. Jim will be remembered as an extremely funny man with a witty sense of humor, as well as for his comical story telling abilities. Jim was an attorney for 31 years. He spent his first 20 years at the Philadelphia law firm of Cozen O’Connor and the remainder of his career as in house counsel at Travelers Insurance. Jim was a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park and the Dickinson School of Law, Carlisle, PA. Jim retired at the age of 59 and he and his wife, Jennifer, relocated to Summerville, SC last fall after spending 26 years raising their family in Audubon, PA. In his free time Jim enjoyed playing tennis. After retirement, Jim could be found on the courts 3 - 4 times a week. Jim enjoyed traveling with his wife and children. He was an avid sports fan with season tickets to Maryland football and basketball, along with the Washington Redskins. Jim held a deep appreciation for music and possessed a near encyclopedic knowledge of songs and artists.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jennifer, of nearly 33 years, his children Ryan (30) of Charlotte, NC and Kelly (27) of Los Angeles, CA, his mother Sara, brother John, both of Port Richie, FL and nieces Jennifer, Hayley, Stephanie and Michelle. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim H. Fields, Sr.

A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life with be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 132 E. Valley Forge Rd, King of Prussia, PA on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 11 am. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:30 – 11:00. Private luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross or the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
