Barbara Dill

Obituary of Barbara Dill

Barbara Borders (Isaacs) Dill passed away peacefully at her home on Hilton Head Island on February 18, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents Fay McClelland & James Wesley Borders, 3 brothers & “sisters” Joe & Lois Borders, Jimmy & Mildred Borders and Bobby (her twin) & Jeanine Borders, and dear friend (and former husband) Jim Isaacs.

She is survived by her 4 children: Kevin Isaacs of Hilton Head, Kim Sorensen (and her husband Chris) of Orlando, Wes Isaacs of Minneapolis and Mark (“Tyke”) of San Francisco. In addition she is survived by 3 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, nieces & nephews, and her life-long best friend Sally Hoback.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to all who knew her. “To know her was to love her”. Although she was born, raised and lived in Louisville, Kentucky most of her life, she selflessly moved to Hilton Head Island in 1977 at the request of her 3 youngest children who wanted to attend Sea Pines Academy.

She was also a dedicated & respected Registered Nurse, who worked tirelessly for her patients with both Drs. Neil Love and Paul Long until her retirement in 1997. She loved tennis…both watching & playing. She was a long-term member of the Shipyard Raquet Club, and also played every Wednesday for many years with her beloved “tennis girls” at Baynard Cove Club. She was also a “Piddler”…a group of dear Island friends who went to Atlanta the weekend after Thanksgiving to do all of their Christmas shopping…”and various other shenanigans”.

She was a proud member of St. Andrews By the Sea Methodist Church. She went on several missionary trips with her beloved church as part of the medical team. She received so much happiness from helping those less fortunate… whether it was working in the food pantry at St. Andrews for the Deep Well Project, tutoring struggling children in Estill, SC or immunizing poor children in third world countries.

She truly was “mother incarnate” and everybody’s “Aunt Barb”… a caretaker and nurturer until the very end. She lived her life with unconditional love & laughter, unlimited compassion for those struggling or less fortunate, and with integrity, kindness & grace.

At her request, there will be no funeral services. Donations can be made in her memory to The Deep Well Project at 80 Capital Dr, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926, OR Volunteers in Medicine at 15 Northridge Dr, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926.

A Special Thanks: to our oldest brother Kevin who took care of Mom & allowed her to pass with dignity in the comfort of her own home; her good friend and Stephen’s Minister Pat Priddy; and Hospice Care of the Lowcountry
