Obituary of Michele Cari Lawson

Michele Cari Lawson, known affectionately as Michele, peacefully passed away on November 8, 2023, in Charleston, South Carolina, at the age of 57. She was born on July 14, 1966, in Charleston, the daughter of Charles Mizner and the late Sandra Mizner. Michele's life was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

 

Michele's educational journey began at Ferndale Primary School, and she later graduated from Northside Christian School, where she was one of the thirteen students in the first graduating class. She continued her higher education at Pensacola Christian College.

 

Throughout her career, Michele worked diligently in various roles. She started her professional journey at Piggly Wiggly and later joined Day and Zimmerman. It was during her time at Day and Zimmerman that she traveled to Hawaii, accompanied by her mother, Sandra, to set up base housing. Michele then found her calling at Landmark Construction Company, where she met the love of her life, Jeff Lawson.

 

Michele and Jeff shared a deep love and enjoyed many shared interests. They loved dancing, bowling, shopping, and Disney. Michele's favorite holiday was Christmas, which she celebrated with immense joy.

 

Michele will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 16 years, Jeff A. Lawson, her son Tyler P. Buskirk, her grandson Kyrin P. Buskirk, her daughter Jordan L. Buskirk, her father Charles Mizner, her brother Sean Mizner and his wife Marcy Mizner, along with their children Ashleigh and Ethan Mizner, and her brother John D. Mizner. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sandra Mizner.

 

Michele's faith played an important role in her life, and she found solace and community at Smyrna United Methodist Church. Her kind and giving nature extended beyond her religious community as she actively participated in charity work, donating to causes such as Children's Miracle Network, Wounded Warriors, Smyrna United Methodist Church, and Neighbors Together (formerly known as Tricounty Family Ministries).

 

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Smyrna United Methodist Church from 2pm to 4pm, followed by funeral services. Contributions in Michele's memory can be made to her favorite charities, including Children's Miracle Network, Wounded Warriors, Smyrna United Methodist Church, and Neighbors Together.

Michele will forever be remembered for her warm heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Michele fought a long hard battle, may you now rest in peace.
