Obituary of Mary Smith Rigdon

Mary Smith Rigdon was born on 10/21/1935 to Joseph and Mary Smith in Glascow, Scotland. She was a Mother, a Sister, and Aunt. Mary is the second oldest of 6 siblings. Mary is joined in Heaven with her parents Joseph and Mary Smith of Glascow, Scotland, her brotherJoseph Smith, Jr, of Glascow Scotland, and sisters Emma Smith Combs(Frank), and Patricia Smith Myers, of Charleston,South Carolina.

Mary leaves behind her only daughter Diane Rigdon Purdue(Ronald), her grandchildren Chirstopher Purdue(Lacey), Justin Purdue(Ashley), Emily Purdue, her brother Peter Smith of Aberdeen, Scotland and sister Jeanne McQueen(Charles) of Perth, Australia, her beloved nephew and Godson Paul Macalloon as well as many nieces and nephews in Scotland and Australia. Mary came to the United States in 1969 where she met and married her only husband Charles Paul Rigdon III of Wilmington, Delaware. She dedicated her entire life to caring for others but especially her only daughter Diane. She was raised in the Catholic Church and lived her life loving and helping others whenever she could. She loved animals and gardening and loved family get togethers with her sisters. She was loved and cherished by everyone she met and always put others' needs before her own.

A memorial service will be held at Simplicity LowCountry & Burial Services , 281 Treeland Drive , Suite C, Ladson, SC 29456 on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 from 2 PM until 4 PM.
