Obituary of Jason Patrick McLemore

Engineer, U.S. Navy veteran, husband, father and grandfather, Jason Patrick McLemore, 54, died November 5, 2023, from accidental drowning while kayaking on Lake Moultrie. Jason was born on May 13, 1969, in Hampton, VA. During his early childhood he lived in Richmond, VA, central Florida, and Walkerton, VA. He attended Massanutten Military Academy in VA, graduating H.S. in 1987. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1987 to 1989, including deployment to the Persian Gulf. After his honorable discharge, he lived his adult life in the Charleston, S.C. area. While working full-time and raising a family, he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from The Citadel in 2012. After graduation, he began working as an engineer for Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic where, over the following 11 years, he was promoted to Senior Automation/Controls Engineer. After leaving NIWC, Jason was employed at SAFT America, as Lead Technical Engineer. Jason loved being outside, swimming in the pool with family, hanging out on the deck and cooking out. He loved live music events, preferably outside. Jason was blessed to travel to many amazing countries while with the Navy and his employment. He found joy and relaxation while kayaking and fishing. Jason is survived by his wife Michelle (Hackett) McLemore, daughters Katherine McLemore and Kylie McLemore, previous wife and mother of their daughters Malynda McLemore, grandchildren Braidan Rivera, Alexa Rivera and Connor Owens, stepsons Porter Hackett and Houston Hackett, father Patrick McLemore, his wife & stepmother Page McLemore, birth mother Kathleen Berryman, Aunt Conny Berryman McCormack and Uncle Austin “Mick” McCormack, and Uncle Richard Berryman. A memorial service will be held on December 1 at 2 p.m. at Simplicity: Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services, 281 Treeland Dr., Ladson, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Changed Lives Ministry, 470 Reid Hill Rd, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
