Obituary of Daniel John McKenzie

Daniel John McKenzie, 32, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on December 14, 2023. A Memorial Mass at St. John Catholic Church at 3921 St. Johns Avenue, North Charleston, SC will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday January 6, 2024 and family & friends will gather to celebrate Daniel's life at a brunch immediately following the service.

Daniel was born on March 17, 1991 in Buffalo, NY to Brian and Maria McKenzie. He resided in West Seneca, NY with his parents and brother Christian until July 2008, attending Allendale & West Elementary and West Seneca West Middle & High. His pastimes included playing piano and oboe, West Marching Band, West Seneca baseball and soccer and camp outs with Boy Scout Troop 430 of West Seneca. In 2008, Daniel moved with his family to Hanahan, SC where he graduated from Hanahan High and attended the College of Charleston. In 2009 Daniel earned his Eagle Scout with Troop 79 in West Ashley, SC. Daniel loved animals, and brought rescue Kali to the family in 2008 and then his beloved Sugaree in 2012. In 2017 he moved with his family to Goose Creek and a few years later moved into his own place. He earned an Associate’s in Applied Technology for HVAC in 2019. After working for several HVAC companies, Daniel became an Installer for Closets by Design from 2020 – 2023. Daniel had a passion for reading, music and woodworking. Under his “Masterpeace Creations LLC”, he designed and created many unique wood pieces for family and friends.

Daniel is the beloved son of Brian John McKenzie & Maria Naples McKenzie of Summerville, SC, and younger brother of Christian Anthony McKenzie of North Charleston. He entered eternal rest alongside his grandparents Jack & Dolores McKenzie and Anthony & Mary Ann Naples. He is survived by many loving Aunts, Uncles and cousins in West Seneca, White Lake and Brooklyn, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and Roanoke. Daniel will always be remembered by his family and many friends for his intelligent, kind and gentle spirit.
