Obituary of Frederick Carl McNeal

Frederick Carl McNeal, 79, of Summerville, SC, passed away peacefully in his home, January 9, 2024, after an eight months long battle with bladder cancer. He was surrounded by his family.

Fred was born June 19, 1944 in Easton, Maryland to Frederick Lee McNeal and Marie Georgeanna Muller. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother James Lee McNeal.

Fred was a friendly person, honest and true. He had integrity and the ability to listen. He was funny and could make you laugh with his witty sayings and teasing ways. Fred never met a stranger, and everyone liked him.

While growing up in Easton, Maryland, on the family farm, he helped milk cows, pick tomatoes and get up hay. He dreamed of getting off the farm and soon after graduation from Easton High School in 1962, he joined the Air Force as a Military Police Officer. He began a 25 year career with Sears Roebuck in 1967 where he retired as a National Loss Prevention Manger.

In 1969, he met his future bride, Shelley S. Gosman. They married in 1970 and raised two sons, Thomas Lee and Matthew Scott. He was extremely proud of his sons who blessed their parents with three grandsons, Ryder, Collin and Holden. Fred is survived by five nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews and even a few great great nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss their Uncle Fred very much. He loved them all.

There will be a celebration of life on February 17, 2024 at The Lakehouse at Middleton Place, Ashley River Road, N Charleston, SC.

12 Noon. Please RSVP to Shelley by text if you plan to attend.
