Obituary of Phillip Lee Parmenter

Phillip Lee Parmenter 82, of Summerville, SC passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024 due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

Phil was born in Brockton, MA on February 7, 1941. He graduated from Brockton High School and attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. Phil is predeceased by his parents; Helen and Roderick Parmenter. He is also predeceased by a brother Dave Parmenter.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Brigette and also his 3 children; Paula Thompson (Bob) of Westford, VT, Ken Parmenter (Sheilah Wilson) of Bradenton, FL, and Lee Parmenter (Ferne) of Hartland, VT. Phil is also survived by his grandson Brian Thompson of Essex Junction, VT and his sister Diane (Dick Dill) of Brockton, MA Phil enjoyed a 43-year career within his field of study for several companies including; Fafnir Ball Bearing, General Electric, Split Ball Bearing and Williams International before retiring with the position of Director of Engineering at NH Ball Bearing. Phil had a love of volunteerism during his life as shown by his becoming a volunteer fireman in Meriden, NH. After completing Dog Therapy training, he took his canine side-kicks to hospitals, library “Paws to Read” programs and various schools in Dorchester and Charleston counties in South Carolina. Other important activities in Phil’s life included competitive swimming in high school and college, listening to classical music, leisure golf outings with family and friends and tinkering with his G-scale train collection. He enjoyed traveling and shared many adventures with Brigette. Phil was skilled in carpentry and among the projects he created is a beautiful large cedar chest and a barn structure he built on a property where it still stands strong. Phil attended the New Apostolic Church where he especially enjoyed the sermons and the fellowship with friends in the Charleston Congregation.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2PM at the New Apostolic Church (1342 Lincolnville Rd, Ladson, SC). Prior to the service the family will be available for greeting beginning at 1PM. Light refreshments will be offered after the service at the church. We will miss Phil greatly but we know our Heavenly Father has prepared a good and beautiful place for him and he will always be fondly remembered in our hearts.
