Obituary of Richard Eugene Kueber

Richard Eugene (Rick) Kueber , 64, Edisto Island SC passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024. He was born on June 14, 1959 to Rita J. (Wolf) and Orville E Kueber. They moved to Kokomo, IN where Rick graduated from Haworth High School in 1977.  He graduated from Lincoln Technical School in 1978 and worked as lead mechanic at Kokomo Center Township Schools for over 30 years, retiring in 2014.

He was known for his kindness to others, his quirky sense of humor and his love for getting a deal. His personality traits were even more memorable than his large stature. Rick was a faithful servant of the Lord, and his life represented his love for his Savior.

Rick was predeceased by his father, Orville.  He is survived by his wife Heidi, his mother Rita Jean (Kueber), stepfather, Robert J. Straub, his son Gavin Kueber and wife Kelly, step-daughters Barbara and husband, Benjamin Taylor, Lindsay Taylor, Caitlin Wolter and step-son Joseph Taylor.  Also surviving are siblings: Cindy (Kueber) and Rick Foust, Donna Kueber, Ken and Tracy Kueber, a nephew, niece, and numerous grandchildren.

In recent years Rick and his wife have enjoyed traveling and impacting the lives of their grown children, grandchildren and extended family during their retirement. They have created amazing memories that will continue to support the legacy of Rick and the love he had for others.

Rick’s large and generous heart may have failed, but his legacy will live on in ours forever. Our “gentle giant” has entered into Heaven where he can finally be reunited with his Lord and loved ones. We will see him again one day!

To honor Rick’s wishes, cremation is being performed at Simplicity Low Country Cremation and Funeral Services in Charleston, SC.  There will be a celebration of life in both Edisto Island, SC (Feb 24, 2024) and Kokomo, IN (Mar 23, 2024).
