Rebecca Harden

Obituary of Rebecca S Harden

Rebecca S. Harden, age 57, passed away peacefully May 1, 2024, surrounded by her family after
her brave fight with Breast Cancer. She was born in Brockport, New York on October 3, 1966, to
Garry and Rebecca Castle. She married the love of her life and best friend, William L. Harden Jr.,
November 17,1984 in Summerville, South Carolina.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Lester, and three children: Ashley, Thomas, and
Brianna. Her grandchildren, who called her Nana, Emily, Jeremiah, Joshua, Bethany, Jonathan,
Jude, and Elizabeth.
She is also survived and held in the hearts of her father, Garry; her brother, Scott, as well as
extended family including her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Rebecca loved art, music, nature, and animals. She found beauty everywhere and could often be
found sketching pictures of the things she saw or snapping photos to commemorate what was
before her. Her loving heart and easy charm were readily shared with everyone she knew. Her smile
would light up a room and brighten any day. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, drawing, crafting pottery,
and knitting. There was no limit to the things she could create. Her hands were rarely still. When she
wasn’t creating beauty with her hands, she was outdoors with her flowers and chickens. But more
than anything, she loved her family. Time spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren
pleased her more than anything else.
Her faith was strong, she prayed much, and praised God always. Many would harbor doubt in their
hearts when faced with the trials she endured, but her faith grew stronger. She trusted God in all
things and shared that message loudly with others. Her message to others can best be found in
Philippians 4:13, “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This verse was her
favorite and she often shared it with her family and friends. She held strong to this powerful
message as she maintained her focus on Jesus during her battle with cancer. She never faltered in
her trust in Him.
