Obituary of Helen Crosby Sires

After a long and valiant battle with illness, on the morning of September 13, 2015, Helen Crosby Sires went to Heaven with the sunrise, where she was welcomed home by her parents, Doris and Harry (Sam) Crosby. Helen was born March 31st, 1942 in Charleston SC and grew up in the Adams Run, SC area, where she would often tag along and help her daddy drive the tractor. She graduated from St Paul’s High School in 1960 where she had been an excellent student, a cheerleader, member of the band and played on the girls basketball team, the Lady Pirates. She was a member of the “Sensational Seven.” In 1964 she married her sweetheart, Burnat. They eventually settled in Beaufort, SC, where she partnered with her husband in a successful business and was actively involved in the community. Helen had a kind and generous spirit and loved her family first and foremost. She will be forever loved and cherished by her husband of 51 years, Frank Burnat Sires, her daughter, Ashley Sires (Jason), her sisters, Vera Bonnell, Shirley Golden (Andy), Claire Florio (Dave) and a large extended family of cousins, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Richardene McKelvey for being Helen’s wonderful companion and caregiver over the last several months and special thanks to Janie Gant for her support during a difficult time. Her funeral services will be held at Hopewell Baptist Church on Thursday September 17th, 2015. A visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M with the service to follow at noon. Graveside services will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church at 6869 Parkers Ferry Road, Adams Run, SC, 29426
