James Edlin

Obituary of James C. Edlin

Jim Edlin passed away peacefully on August 27, 2018 at his daughter’s house in Charleston, South Carolina under the care of Crescent Hospice. His daughter, Trina Michelle, took care of her father during his illness for the past two years.

Jim was 74, and he was born on September 8, 1943 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He resided in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for 46 years.  He was proud to be from Kentucky as he was a big fan of the UK Wildcats.

Jim served in the army and graduated from Western Kentucky University.  He was a retired chemistry/physics teacher from Myrtle Beach High School where he taught over 30 years. He also managed the office at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park during the summers.

Jim enjoyed playing golf and was a golf coach at MBHS his last few years of teaching. Even though his poor health kept him from playing the game of golf, he still loved watching the PGA every weekend when there was a tournament.

Jim was cremated at Simplicity Funeral Home in Charleston, South Carolina. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club (9000 N. Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach) on Saturday, September 8th from 1-3 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society, the Myrtle Beach Seahawks Booster Club, or the ASPCA would be greatly appreciated. His daughter’s dog, Ruby, never left his side when he was staying at her house the past three weeks and he loved her as much as she loved him.

His daughter and her fiancée; Michael Schillo, are very saddened by the loss of Jim, but they know he is no longer suffering and is in a better place. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of a very proud father and man.
