Pete was like a brother to me back in the 80s when we were both stationed on the USS O'Bannon. We wandered all over Northern Europe together on the NATO Cruise and I have many funny stories to tell that involve Pete. As happens we grew apart since then, life goes on, I had my own path to follow and moved away from South Carolina and Pete stayed in the service and then stayed in SC after. I admit that he was better at trying to stay in touch than I have been. He was there for me when my brother passed back in the 80's and I wish I could have been more there for him when his son passed. Pete was generous to a fault, a great listener and always an interesting conversationalist, I will miss him. Wish I had been a better friend.
